Porcelain Veneers

Dental veneers (sometimes called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates) are wafer-thin, custom-made shells made of porcelain designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve appearance.  These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth, changing their color, shape, size or length.  Porcelain veneers resist stains and chipping, and also mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth.

Porcelain veneers are routinely used to fix teeth that are discolored, either because of root canal treatment, stains from tetracycline or other drugs, excessive fluoride or other causes, or the presence of large fillings that have discolored the teeth.  Porcelain veneers can also be used to treat teeth that are excessively worn, chipped or broken, misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped, as well as teeth with gaps between them.

Tooth Colored Fillings (composite resins)

We offer tooth colored, non metal restorations in order to improve esthetics and to minimize any potential risk of amalgam (mercury) sensitivity.   Unlike the old amalgam metal fillings, composite fillings only require diseased tooth to be removed.  This feature of composites enables us to provide a conservative restoration that is also beautiful.

Crowns

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over a tooth–covering a tooth to restore its shape and size, strength, and/or improve its appearance.  The crown, when cemented in place, fully encases the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gumline.  Dr. Ring may recommend a crown for the following reasons:  to protect a weak tooth (for instance, from decay) from breaking or to hold together parts of a cracked tooth; to restore an already broken tooth or a tooth that has been severely worn down; to cover and support a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t a lot of tooth left; to hold a dental bridge in place; to cover misshaped or severely discolored teeth; to cover a dental implant.
