Restorative & General Dentistry in St. Louis

Tooth decay is one of the most common oral health conditions and does not resolve without treatment. Left untreated, decay can lead to infection, pain, and tooth loss. At Generation Dental Group, we focus on early diagnosis and comprehensive treatment to restore oral health and protect your smile.

Modern diets high in sugar and frequent snacking significantly increase the risk of cavities for both children and adults. When sugar interacts with bacteria in the mouth, acid is produced that attacks tooth enamel. Over time, repeated acid exposure causes irreversible damage that requires professional dental care.

Once decay occurs, enamel does not regenerate. Treatment is necessary to remove decay, restore the tooth, and prevent further damage.

From routine fillings to complex restorative cases, Dr. Julie Ring and the experienced team at Generation Dental Group provide personalized, high-quality dental care in a comfortable environment.

Fillings (Restorations)

Dental fillings are used to treat cavities, repair cracked or broken teeth, and restore teeth worn down by grinding or other habits.

During a filling procedure:

  • The area is gently numbed with local anesthetic
  • Decay is carefully removed
  • The tooth is cleaned and prepared
  • Tooth-colored composite material is placed in layers and hardened with a special curing light
  • The restoration is shaped, polished, and adjusted for comfort

The type of filling recommended depends on the location and extent of decay, insurance coverage, and your individual needs.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic therapy, is used to save teeth with infected or damaged pulp tissue (commonly referred to as the “nerve”). Despite its reputation, modern root canal therapy is typically no more uncomfortable than receiving a filling.

During treatment:

  • The infected pulp is removed
  • The root canal is cleaned and sealed
  • A crown is usually placed afterward to strengthen and protect the tooth

Root canal therapy allows patients to preserve their natural teeth and avoid extraction whenever possible.

Tooth Extractions

In some cases, a tooth may be too damaged or compromised to restore. When extraction is necessary, Dr. Ring provides gentle, skilled care and can address most oral surgery needs in-office.

Crowns

Crowns are custom-made restorations that fit over a damaged tooth to restore strength, function, and appearance. Crowns are commonly recommended after root canal treatment, for teeth with large fillings, cracks, or significant wear, and for cosmetic enhancement.

Bridges

Dental bridges replace one or more missing teeth using crowns placed on adjacent teeth to support a natural-looking replacement tooth.

Bridges help:

  • Restore chewing and speaking ability
  • Prevent remaining teeth from shifting
  • Maintain facial structure
  • Improve smile appearance

Dentures

Dentures are removable restorations used to replace multiple missing teeth and restore function and facial support.

  • Complete dentures replace all teeth
  • Partial dentures replace some teeth and stabilize remaining natural teeth

Both options are designed for comfort, function, and natural appearance.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are one of the most reliable and long-lasting solutions for replacing missing teeth. Unlike bridges or dentures, implants are surgically placed in the jawbone and function like natural tooth roots.

Implants:

  • Do not rely on neighboring teeth
  • Help prevent bone loss
  • Provide excellent stability and longevity

Dental implants are often the preferred option for patients seeking a permanent tooth replacement solution.

Invisalign® Orthodontics

Generation Dental Group is proud to offer Invisalign® clear aligner therapy. Invisalign straightens teeth using a series of virtually invisible, removable aligners—without wires or brackets.

Benefits of Invisalign include:

  • Discreet appearance
  • Comfortable fit
  • Removable for eating and brushing
  • Effective for many orthodontic concerns

Treatment typically takes about one year, with aligners changed every two weeks.
